Fraud attempts continue to be on the rise. Veterans, their families, and their caregivers are among the many who are being targeted. Fraudsters consistently change their tactics with new and different ways to scam people. Bad actors exploit a veteran's military service history to gain access to the service member's benefits and resources.


Fraud can take shape in many ways such as fake Facebook accounts using stolen photos of victims impersonating them and advertisements for special offers targeting military service members and families. Criminals are smart and sophisticated, preying on trust and good intentions.


The VA Fraud Prevention Toolkit is a tool that helps combat fraud. The Toolkit is a combined effort amongst federal agencies that gives tips on prevent service members, their families, and their caregivers from fraud.
