Achieving Work-Life Balance

While it is not possible to have an equal work-life balance, there are some things that can be done to ease the strain of having to juggle all we have going on each day. Remember that balance is a constant shift, and we do our best to adjust to the shifts.

Selfcare

When you are cared for, it will be easier to care for others. We all need a little time for ourselves every now and then. Meet friends for lunch, go to the gym, or walk through a new store. Use the commute to and from work as you-time and listen to something uplifting to start the day off right or to decompress afterward. Taking a breather from the day-to-day just for yourself can help from burn out.

Make Family Time a Priority

Do not leave family time to chance. Small things such as attending school functions or having family dinner can help build strong family connections. Make time for family activities such as bowling, going to the movies, game night at home, or hiking. It is important to stay present in the moment as much as possible. While it may not be possible to completely disconnect from emails and texts, keeping it to a minimum during family time will show that you are committed to your family. Making family time a priority will help with feelings of guilt for missing out on some things because you know that no matter what, family is still first.

 Utilize Automation

Automate as much as possible. Set bills on autopay, use shopping and meal delivery services, and consider regular maid service to help deep clean the house. Putting as much on auto-pilot as  possible can free up valuable time and help relieve responsibilities.

Find Support

Do not be shy about asking for help. Get to know others who share similar challenges. A community such as Dark Guardian can provide an outlet to discuss and share ideas and find support.
